In Marcon, Northern Italy, CAB leads the way.
Small and medium companies are growing and in the Province of Venice, CAB Costruzioni Aeronautiche Bertola becomes a textbook case.
The aeronautical hub of Tessera, that already includes important companies such as Agusta, is experiencing the growth of a series of extremely specialized local firms in its surroundings. One of these is CAB Costruzioni Aeronautiche Bertola, a company founded in 1987 by two courageous local entrepreneurs, Egidio and Angelo Bertola and headquartered in Via Vittorio Veneto – Marcon.
CAB was born as a supplier of the former Officine Aeronavali of Tessera (now Alenia Aeronautica) and used to provide metal components in specific alloys for the Dc8 cargo, the Atr, the G222 and the MRCA Tornado. From that point and in few years, the Bertola brothers’ company has increased the number of its customers thanks to a series of investments focused on expanding the business to an international panorama. The firm experienced a major growth in the number of its employees going from 10 to around 40 people, all of them capable of dealing with the sophisticated and accredited production processes such as: water jet cutting, special painting application, heat treating for light aluminum alloys, etc. – for the aeronautical sector.
In the last years, CAB has widen its activity to the production of components for the aerospace industry for companies that are part of the Finmeccanica’s Group such as Thales Alenia, Alenia Aeronautica, Sonaca, Aermacchi and Agusta Westland. It provides the latter with parts for the NH90 helicopter (and other models) and the Instrument Panel Assy, a technologically advanced control panel.
In the last four years, CAB has continued investing and successfully obtained the very strict certifications necessary to operate in the aerospace sector. This strategy helped the firm building an important customer portfolio enabling the turnover to double and remain above 3 million euros despite the economic crisis. On last year’s July, CAB took part to the International Air Show at Farnborough (London) – for the first time and at its own expense – this allowed the company to start planning for future challenges by entering into contact with global leaders in the aeronautical field such as Bombardier, Embraer and Sonaca.
